About Us
This web site has been developed to inform and guide two main groups:
1) Young people and parents on how this programme can help raise aspirations, motivation, accomplishment and advancement to Higher Education.
2) Education and business partners across the county, to share ideas and assist in the planning and development of activities to help our target groups Aimhigher.
We are part of the flagship initiative in which the Government has made a firm commitment to deliver a coherent national outreach programme operating most intensively in disadvantaged areas. The Higher Education Funding Council and the Learning and Skills Council fund the initiative.
Aimhigher seeks to promote access and develop progression to meet the target of 50% of 18-30 year olds participating in higher education by 2010. Aimhigher will develop a step-change in the take up of educational opportunities.
Activities will include building on existing partnerships and routes into higher education as well as establishing vocational pathways.
