Monitoring and Evaluation of Aimhigher Activities 2008-09 reports are available on the Partners page
Feedback has recently been received from the Aimhigher funder (the Higher Education Funding Council for England - Hefce) on the Monitoring and Evaluation reports for Aimhigher Surrey activity that took place in 2008-09. Good progress has been made in targeting students from low income backgrounds and those who would be the first person in their family to go on to Higher Education. There has been a wide range of activity with some very good results coming from attainment raising activities. Summer schools have been particularly successful in raising aspirations as well as focussed curriculum based programmes such as Creative and Media and Healthcare. Hefce is compiling an Aimhigher Annual Report which is due to be published in early 2010 and will provide an overview of the monitoring and evaluation of all Aimhigher Partnerships across England. We will post this report on the Aimhigher Surrey website when it arrives. A newsletter outlining the key elements and fact and figures about the outcomes of the programme in 2008-09 as well as information about activities in 2009-10 will be published and sent out to schools, colleges and other partner organisations before Easter. It is a pity it takes so long to get this information into the public domain but we do need to wait for approval of reports prior to distribution. If you have any questions please contact the Aimhigher Surrey Director at m.birks@surrey.ac.uk.

Summer School application deadline 14th February
We are very keen to fully recruit to the Summer Schools and especially the Royal Holloway year 10 event and the UCA year 12 events at Farnham as Aimhigher Surrey has commissioned these event to meet the needs of local students. We have 50 places on the Royal Holloway summer school and 30 places for the UCA event. Please promote these opportunities in assemblies, on notice boards and through tutor groups - and do your very best to help by getting students to apply. We may lose future funds if we don't fill these places. We need all the completed applications by 14 February - and if you want the Reading summer school the deadline is 6 February.
